For each day to have a new and different sun…

Some of the stories that never failed to inspire me, are the stories of people traveling in search of themselves.

The stories would usually begin with numerous, continuous setback of the protagonist, the greatest bottleneck in life. Pushed to the edge, they look for some ways to breakthrough by going on a trip with no planned routes nor destination.

Whether they have met any one on the trip, encountered any interesting things on the trip doesn’t seem to be the key. It doesn’t even matter whether they have found any answers to their questions. Somehow, at the end when they finally got home, after the hard and lonely trip, they would be someone completely different.

I have come to realise that all along I traveled to find a “home”. I even suspect that choosing to study overseas was part of this grand scheme.

This search has somewhat cutshort of my traveling experience because all i am looking for when i travel is to rest. what a paradox. I did not like feeling lost when i travel, train rides and flights become reduced to a mere means to an end, exploration becomes a chore, etc…

As you can see, looking for a home by traveling is just a cause doomed for failure because all I am doing is running away from what I have, in search of something that has forever been lost.

First of all, “Home” is not a physical place, “home” is a sacred place of rest and refreshment you build in your own heart.

and.. “Traveling” is meant to be adventures, explorations, opening up my horizon!

So it becomes clear to me, I need to create my own home base and go out traveling with new eyes, ike the travellers with no destinations in mind, no answers found in their trip. The key is not the destination nor the answers, the journey is not the means to the end, it IS the end. Life too is a journey that IS the end, because we all have the same destination lol..

And so… I will end with a quote that says how I wish to view my life and my journeys:

“There is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”
